Eye Diseases

Why Eye Exams

So it goes, “the eyes are the window to the soul,” but they are also your window to the outside world and all the beauty that Suffolk County has to offer. With all this, your eyes are exposed to a lot–make sure you aren’t taking such an important part of you and your daily life for granted.

Getting your eyes examined is crucial for checking their health and regularity and uncovering any problems or signs of disease. Proactivity is the best route when it comes to keeping your vision sharp and your eyes healthy, because, unfortunately, there are a few lurking diseases out there that overworked eyes may succumb to.

Who Is At Risk?

There are an array of variables that can affect the development of an eye disease, and different diseases are impacted by different factors. Some factors to take into consideration are:

  • Exposure to UV rays
  • Past eye trauma
  • History of infected eyes.
  • Genetics
  • Age
  • Non-eye related medical conditions (such as diabetes)

Any of these factors may leave you predisposed to the development of an eye disease. Make sure you are being smart about your eyes and checking in on them.
